It must have been a combination of boredom and curiosity that made me order 5 packs of Classmate Octane gel pens (or it turns out there were five in one). The Classmate brand is completely new to me and Im not sure if the company actually sells anything in the US. But I found this Octane pen on eBay and at just over 50 cents per pen I thought I was going to roll the dice. Who do you know? Maybe Ill find another great gel pen. On the surface it looks really cool with its muted black body and powerful Octane name. Other positives: It is a refined writer and produces good dark ink but tends to be criticized for being promoted by Japanese colleagues with waterproof ink. And as you might expect from the price tag of the all-plastic build it looks pretty cheap. It has a thin clip and a sliding rubber grip.
