Pistachios, also known as green almonds are nuts grown on trees and have naturally tan shells. The kernels inside the shells are a greenish tan, which get their green colour from chlorophyll. Pistachios are either eaten as is or used in baking and cooking. Their unique texture and coloring also makes them a popular addition to salads and appetizers.
